Cross-Curricular Project Grade 8,9 & 11: Understanding The Dangerous Diseases Caused By Viruses

The cross-curricular project Grade 8,9, and 11: “Understanding the dangerous diseases caused by viruses” created a new approach to knowledge, helping students to learn better the knowledge of Biology which seems to be very “difficult-to-remember”.  After a period of searching for information about viruses, students will summarize the useful knowledge under the guidance of teachers. From there, UTS-ers will present this knowledge in the form of a design product with practical value such as Poster, handbook, picture…  This activity not only helps to equip UTS-ers with knowledge about the viruses that have been affecting our health but also raises awareness about the prevention of diseases, especially in a complicated period of Covid-19 situation. Also, teamwork and designing of these products help UTS-ers practice teamwork skills, planning and presenting products as well as increase creativity and get familiar with basic design software.

National Pride With The Shadow Puppetry Of History

Helping students love and remember History knowledge is not easy because this is a subject which contains numerous important events and milestones. However, students of Grade 10 and 11 of US Vietnam Talent International School approached this subject in a brand new and creative method through “The art of shadow puppetry in teaching History” project.  This is a long-term project which had been deployed since October of 2020. During the preparation period, teachers and students of UTS recorded the voice-overs for performances, learnt how to complete the puppets and perform them proficiently.   On the Closing Day of this project, students performed the shadow puppetry show together to revive the battle between the Vietnamese commanded by Ngo Quyen and troops of the Southern Han on Bach Dang river, the resistance against the Tong invaders of Ly Dynasty and humane stories in the World War I.   With this project, students approached a special way of learning which helped them remember the lessons longer as well as experience a kind of folk art. Moreover, they could understand value of life and family bond through performances. At UTS, students are not only equipped with knowledge and skills but also encouraged to develop talents and enhance the artistic sense.

Cross-curricular project “green trees around us”: For a better world!

However, serious environmental pollution and deforestation in recent time reduce the number of green trees significantly. Therefore, educating student about the importance of green trees in life is really necessary at the moment. During 2 weeks of this project, UTS-ers had learnt various things: tree structure, advantages of trees and how to grow trees at home. Especially, they drew and made lovely paintings from the dry leaves. These paintings were given to UTS teachers and staffs of as gifts for the upcoming New Year. Also, a part of UTS’ campus was used to display these paintings which created a lovely green space there. Along with enriching knowledge about these subjects, this project helped UTS’ students train their initiative, team-work skills and other necessary skills to research and acquire knowledge. These kids will be the ones who have important roles in protecting and developing the environment in the future. Educating them carefully when they are still young will make a great impression on their minds – the precondition to become positive netizens who will contribute to the society later.

Grade 10 “making water rocket” project | let your dream fly higher and further

Recently, the UTS-ers grade 10 have experienced memorable moments together with the project “Making Water Rocket”. Do you remember how high and far your water rockets flew? By applying the knowledge and laws learned in Physics – the subject is highly applicable, grade 10 students have created water rockets with close objects such as recycled bottles, plumbing, duct tape, etc. with the guidance of Teacher Nguyen Anh Tri. Students not only finished their “spiritual work” but also decorated them with many colors and equipment such as wings, parachute, etc. UTS was so surprised by your creativity! Throughout the project, UTS-ers both mastered theories and knew how to apply it in practice, as well as flexibly “emerge” in time before unexpected situations such as a glue didn’t work or the launcher could not move, etc. Especially, you know, UTS students coordinate teamwork very smoothly and they are very willing to help each other and other groups when their friends have any unwanted problem. It’s an interesting experience, isn’t it UTS-ers? Hopefully, you will always keep your creativity and the spirit of learning to create more value. Be proud of that!

Do Parents Know? Don’t Turn Disagreements Into The “Invisible” Distance With Children

Any close relationship may face difficulties from time to time. Especially between parents and children, with age differences and a variety of other objective and subjective factors, unpleasant conflicts or disagreements might arise accidentally. In the position of parents, parents have a significant obligation to educate your children grasp the difference between good and bad, right and wrong, and other key ethical principles to prepare for life. However, among youngsters, particularly in adolescence, the desire to be acknowledged as self-sufficient and mature, as well as the urge to prove themselves, becomes incredibly great. Parents, on the other hand, may have your own set of rules and expectations for your children. As a result, many families must have experienced many unhappy times between parents and children when educating and directing your children. Here are some suggestions to assist parents in reducing and improving this issue: 1. Neither the parent nor the child must be the “winner” of an arguments First, parents must equip yourselves with a more relaxed temperament and perspective, understanding that family conflict is unavoidable. Because life may be so hectic at times, parents may not always be able to pay attention, care for, and understand your children’s signs. Alternatively, there may be occasions when parents struggle to control your negative emotions to your child’s misbehaving. Instead of worrying excessively or attempting to be severe, parents might opt to respond in a more positive manner. In truth, the most important thing in a debate is to be heard and understood, not to be the “winner”. When conflicts arise, parents can practice restraining your anger and saving your arguments as well as things to say until a more opportune moment. Our ultimate objective is for our children to have a better understanding of the situation, so pick a moment and

“I feel sastified when trusting UTS to grow my daughter”

Ms. Giang Tien, Mother of Uyen Phuong – student of Class 7.2, expressed meaningful feelings about her daughter’s learning journey at UTS: “Uyen Phuong enrolled the 7th grade at UTS after 6 years studying at another school. During the last school year, she achieved good results in not only academic but also extra-curricular fields such as drama and sports. Uyen Phuong was always a good student in previous school years, but her limitation is that she rarely communicates with other people. This limitation was immediately improved when enrolled at UTS and learned Drama – Civic Education. After very first lessons, her communication skills are much better than before. Especially, Director Viet Linh and Ms. Cam Tien inspired Uyen Phuong a lot so that she could freely express her emotions through the lines of the “Make friends with the sky” drama on professional stages. UTS has brought Drama the into education curriculum, marking a spectacular step for changing the teaching method of some “unconvincing” subjects. Moreover, Uyen Phuong received a lot of support, companion and encouragement from both UTS and family. It has a great impact on Uyen Phuong so that she can go further and longer in the following school years. With that being said, it is also important to mention the role of parents in creating success for children. Parents should cooperate with the school and not just assign all responsibility in students’ training to the school. Parents, more special than anyone else, must figure out the advantages and disadvantages of their children, then have exact solutions and encouragement for any behavior of their children. In addition, UTS’ facilities, the enthusiasm of Admissions counselors, security guards, and homeroom assitance agents also also make UTS become a friendly school. I am grateful for what UTS has been doing and also
